Two IFC (International Finance Centre), Hong Kong
Two IFC is a landmark skyscraper in Hong Kong, located in West Kowloon. The 412-meter-high commercial building features 88 floors and is the second tallest building in Hong Kong, following the ICC Tower.
Vertical reinforcement is a crucial structural feature for buildings of this height. Consultant ARUP and contractors E-Man-Sanfield JV selected Dextra for the splicing of reinforcement throughout the building.
For this project, Dextra supplied more than 200,000 Bartec rebar couplers, which were primarily used for vertical connections, especially in all columns.
Additionally, rebar couplers provided connection points for second-phase rebar reconnection, typically between columns and slabs and columns and beams. To achieve this, rebar couplers were aligned horizontally and cast in concrete, allowing for reconnection at a later stage by screwing in the second-phase rebar.
Bartec is the preferred reinforcement splicing solution for contractors in Hong Kong, as it is recommended in the Hong Kong Building Material List. Dextra also operates its own rebar threading workshop in Hong Kong, providing rebar preparation services for its customers.
