Hanoi Nhật Tân Bridge (Vietnam – Japan Friendship Bridge)
The Nhat Than Bridge is an impressive cable-stayed bridge spanning over the Red River and located North of Hanoi. The total length of the project is 8.9 km, including the actual3.75 km bridge.
The bridge is the new gateway to Hanoi as it greatly reduces the transport time to Hanoi Noi Ban Airport, the second busiest airport of Vietnam in passengers.
The bridge was inaugurated by the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam and opened to the public on the 4th of January 2015. The bridge has since theen been renamed “Vietnam – Japan Friendship Bridge).
Dextra has been involved on the Nhat Tan bridge since the early stage of the project by supplying the popular Bartec rebar couplers, the main rebar splicing solution in Vietnam. Bartec connections were used in various part of the project: approaches, foundation piles, pile caps and approaches.
Bartec couplers make a convenient rebar splicing solution as the same standard coupler can be used for standard connection (rotating rebar into coupler) and position connection (rotating only coupler, when it is impossible to rotate rebar). Dextra supplied more than 130,000 connections in total for this project for the lifting of heavy elements.
For the temporary operations of lifting and fixing of the girder precast segments, Dextra also supplied 36 tons of high-tensile PT bars.
