São Paulo Arena Corinthians
The São Paulo Arena Corinthians is a football and multipurpose stadium which was built between 2011 and 2013 in preparation of the 2014 FIFA Worldcup in Brazil.
The stadium has a capacity of 49,000 people, making it the fifth largest stadium in Brazil in term of capacity.
For the construction of the stadium, 80% of the structural elements were made thanks to precast techniques, of which 40% were produced directly on the precast plant set up on site.
For this project, Dextra Do Brasil delivered to contractor Odebrecht, main contractor on this project, its Rolltec rebar coupler solution.
On the São Paulo Arena Corinthians project, Rolltec rebar couplers were used inside the precast elements to provide connections between slabs, beams and columns.
To allow the use of a coupler in the precast element, a rebar ended with a A-type thread is cast into the precast element, with ist thread being protected by a pocket former.
Once set up at its final location, the pocket former is removed and the space around the thread allows to conveniently screw a Rolltec coupler from the opposing rebar (B-type thread). More than 45,000 Rolltec couplers were used for the rebar connections on the Arena Corinthians. The coupler solution was supported by a Rolltec rebar preparation equipment, installed on site, and Dextra team of engineered in charge of training operators and rolling out preventive maintenance to ensure the equipment was used as its maximum capacity.
