Arena de Banguecoque

The Bangkok Arena is a multisport indoor arena located in the Nong Chok district, east of Bangkok. Originally commissioned to host futsal tournaments, an indoor version of football, the arena now also hosts volleyball and basketball events, as well as concerts. It has a seating capacity of up to 12,000 people.

For this project, Dextra engineered and supplied the Barras de tensão suspending the roof of the building in 2012.

The long architectural bar systems are anchored to concrete pylons and act as suspenders to support the building’s roofing structure.

For this project, Barras de tensão were supplied in Grade 700, the highest in our range. The highest grade allows for a better performance-to-steel ratio, enabling the use of smaller diameters. This results in a slimmer structure and overall improved aesthetics. Additionally, smaller-diameter bars and lighter elements facilitate easier handling and installation on-site.

Each bar segment is spliced to the next using either couplers (for fixed lengths) or turnbuckles (for length adjustment and tensioning).

Connection to the concrete structure is achieved through fork ends mounted onto steel gusset plates.

In total, more than 129 tons of Barras de tensão anchor the roof structure, with tendons exceeding 30 meters in length.

Chaglla Dam is a hydroelectric dam built on the Huallaga River in the Huánuco region of Peru. The dam stands 203 meters high and has a maximum installed capacity of 456 MW.

For this major dam project, Dextra consistently supplied its Rolltec rebar coupler solution to Brazilian contractor Odebrecht from 2012 to 2015.

Rolltec is the most popular rebar splicing solution in Latin America, offering a competitive alternative to lap splices.

Rebar preparation is supported by a unique lightweight machine, which can be operated by a single person. The Rolltec machine is relatively easy to transport and convenient to install, even in remote locations such as dam construction sites.

Beyond just couplers and equipment, Dextra also took charge of machine commissioning and operator training, ensuring the contractor’s team made the most of their rebar coupler solution.

A Estação Msheireb é a principal estação de intercâmbio do Metrô de Doha. Localizado no centro de Doha, conecta todas as três linhas (Vermelha, Verde e Ouro) e fornecerá uma porta de entrada para os estádios da Copa do Mundo FIFA 2022.

Olhos Suaves para TBMs

Para este grande projeto, a Dextra projetou e forneceu entre 2013 e 2015 8 grandes ASTEC GFRP Soft-Eyes, com diâmetro de 8 metros cada. Os olhais macios são gaiolas de vergalhões de PRFV, posicionados nas paredes em D, entre os segmentos de aço. Os olhais macios de PRFV permitem que as máquinas de perfuração de túneis (TBMs) passem por eles em um tempo mínimo, pois as barras podem ser facilmente esmagadas pela máquina de tunelamento.

Âncoras de amarração

Para ancorar as enormes paredes em D e evitar qualquer deslocamento do solo durante os trabalhos de escavação, a Dextra também forneceu seus Âncoras ativas ASTEC (AAA). Essas inovadoras âncoras pós-tensionadas à base de PRFV têm a vantagem de serem cortadas por máquinas de perfuração de túneis ou equipamentos de escavação padrão. Por serem fáceis de cortar, não precisam ser removidas do solo, mesmo quando usadas em aplicações temporárias.

No caso das estações Msheireb, âncoras multitendões (10 por âncora neste projeto) foram instaladas no centro de Soft-Eye para ancorar o D-Wall. Essas âncoras também foram cortadas durante a abertura do túnel (visível no vídeo abaixo). No total foram instaladas 150 âncoras na estação.

Heathrow Airport, located approximately 25 km west of central London, is the busiest international airport in the United Kingdom.

Dextra was involved in the construction of Terminal 5 and its associated structures.

For Heathrow Airport, Dextra provided its most advanced rebar solução de emenda: Griptec, which is distributed in the United Kingdom by local expert fabricators.

Due to its high performance, inherent reliability, systematic proof loading of every connection in factory conditions, and comprehensive certification, Griptec is specified by major consultants worldwide. In the United Kingdom, Griptec holds all three CARES splicing product certificates: TA1-A, TA1-B, and TA1-C.

For our distributors servicing rebar preparation, the Griptec solution is both convenient and productive. It is supported by a smart machine operated by a single operator, offers highly efficient cycle times (approximately 45 seconds per rebar prepared), and includes a test that systematically proof loads each and every bar/sleeve connection.

For contractors, Griptec provides a simple, effective, and reliable way to connect rebar in columns, paredes de diafragma, and slabs. One application at Heathrow was for the roof of the new underground station. Griptec connections were also used to create temporary openings that allowed workers and equipment to move freely through the rebar structure and could easily be “closed” using single lengths of rebar with Griptec connections at both ends.

Thanks to its parallel-thread technology, Griptec does not require any specific torque wrenching and can be verified through simple visual inspection, offering a significant advantage in simplifying the project schedule and maximizing operational productivity.

Petronas RÁPIDO

Petronas RAPID: A Strategic Petrochemical Complex in Malaysia

Petronas RAPID (Refinery And Petrochemical Integrated Development) is a large-scale petrochemical complex located in the southernmost part of Johor, Malaysia, across the sea from Singapore.

Commissioned in 2016, the RAPID development aims to increase local production capacity by 300,000 barrels per day, making it a strategic asset for the Malaysian peninsula.

Para este projeto a Dextra forneceu seus Bartec system for the construction of precast pipe racks across the site. A total of 30,000 Bartec Barras com cabeça were used to create horizontal anchoring points for pipe rack beams.

To support the project, a Bartec machine was installed directly on-site and commissioned by the Dextra team, ensuring efficient bar preparation and seamless integration into the construction process.

Ras Abu Aboud Stadium is a football stadium under construction in Doha, Qatar, with a capacity of 40,000 spectators.

This project has been specifically designed to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The stadium features a modular design, incorporating recycled shipping containers, removable seats, and other modular building blocks. After the tournament, it will be completely dismantled and repurposed.

Dextra supplied more than 600 sets of carbon steel barras de tensão for the cross-bracing of the roofing and bowl structures, as well as for staircases, catwalks, and ramps. The barras de tensão range in bar thread size from M20 (diameter 19 mm) to M72 (diameter 70 mm).

Upon its expected completion in 2020, Ras Abu Aboud Stadium will set a new standard in sustainable construction design.

O Bahr El Baqar wastewater treatment plant is located in the northern governorate of Port Said and has a daily output capacity of 5.6 million cubic meters. It is a joint venture between the Arab Contractors Company e Orascom Construction.

The plant is the world’s largest of its kind, holding three Guinness World Records:

  • O largest water treatment facility, processing 64.8 cubic meters per second
  • O largest sludge treatment plant
  • O largest single-operator ozone generating plant

Dextra is proud to contribute to this project by supplying Rolltec rebar couplers for the reinforcement of the plant’s concrete structures.

Rolltec is a CARES-approved, rolled parallel-threaded mechanical splicing system designed for connecting concrete reinforcing bars from Ø12 to 50 mm (ASTM #4 to #18). It offers fast and easy preparation and installation on-site.

Dubai Airport is the main airport in the United Arab Emirates. The famous airport, located just a few kilometers north of Dubai city, is home to the renowned Emirates airline. Dubai International Airport is the world’s #1 airport in terms of international passenger traffic.

Dextra Middle East, also based in Dubai, has been involved in numerous projects related to the construction of Dubai Airport, particularly from 2003 to 2005, during the development of Terminal 3 and the associated concourses.

For the Dubai International Project, Dextra supplied its popular Bartec coupler solution, the leading rebar coupler solution in the UAE. A total of 1.5 million couplers were used at Dubai International Airport.

Superestrutura

Bartec couplers provided a technical solution for reconnecting second-phase reinforcement between columns and beams, as well as between walls and beams.

Rebar couplers were also used to create temporary openings in the reinforcement, allowing the passage of personnel and equipment.

Fundações

Bartec couplers were utilized for the foundation piles. In this application, the couplers became part of a highly integrated and automated cage manufacturing process, enabling the quick connection of large-diameter rebar and maximizing cage production output.

To complement the Bartec rebar coupler solution, Dextra Sonitec tubes were used to ensure the swift installation and reconnection of the sonic tubes along the entire length of the cages. Sonitec tubes are particularly easy to install due to their Push-Fit rubber mouth and easy to set up in the cage thanks to their welded heads. Over the years, more than 1,800,000 meters of Sonitec tubes have been installed at Dubai International Airport!

O Sistema de Transporte Público de Bangkok (BTS) é um grande sistema de skytrain urbano localizado em Bangkok, capital da Tailândia. O sistema foi inaugurado em 1999.

Em 2017, o sistema consistia em 24 estações elevadas e 37 km de trilhos elevados, organizados em duas linhas principais que se cruzam na estação central de Sião.

O sistema BTS está passando por uma extensão de suas duas linhas principais, com segmentos de linha e estações previstos para entrar em operação em 2019 e 2020.

Fundações

Para vários pacotes ao longo dos anos, a Dextra forneceu Sonitec tubos, que são usados para testar as fundações de estacas de concreto abaixo das estações e trilhos.

No total, a Dextra forneceu aproximadamente 40.000 metros lineares de tubos Sonitec, uma distância equivalente ao comprimento do próprio sistema BTS.

Pilões

Para conexões de barras verticais em postes, a Dextra ofereceu seus Bartec solução.

A Bartec permite que os empreiteiros emendem convenientemente gaiolas de vergalhões pré-fabricadas usando um acoplador de vergalhões simples, permitindo economia de aço em comparação à emenda sobreposta e acelerando as operações no local.

Na Tailândia, a operação de rosqueamento é apoiada pela fábrica da Dextra, convenientemente localizada no nordeste de Bangkok. Os empreiteiros recebem as barras de aço já preparadas e montadas com seus acopladores.

Cylingas Reservoirs: Industrial Gas Storage in the UAE

The Cylingas gas tanks are part of the industrial complex of Cylingas, located in Al Quoz, United Arab Emirates.

For the installation of new gas tanks, Dextra supplied its tension rods systems, which were used for the cross-bracing of the tank footing structure. Carbon steel rods in Grade 355, with a diameter of 120 mm (thread M123), were selected for this application. The rods were delivered with forks, lock covers, and turnbuckles. A total of 48 sets were installed for this project.

The assemblies were fixed onto the pylons using gusset plates connected to the forks. Turnbuckles were installed in the lower part of the assembly to facilitate installation, allowing for length adjustment and stress control by bringing two bar segments closer together.
