The bridge will start from the Pratapgrah road, gain height to over cross the existing Y-junction (going towards Lucknow) and would then cross the Ganga from Kacchar area spanning over Beli village before ending at Stanley Road. It is expected to be in operational in 2024.

New Storstrøm Bridge

New Storstrøm Bridge

The New Storstrøm Bridge is a testament to Denmark’s commitment to improving transportation infrastructure and connecting the country’s islands more efficiently. Stretching over the Storstrømmen strait, this bridge will replace the aging Storstrøm Bridge, which has served as a vital connection between the islands of Zealand and Falster since 1937.

The New Storstrøm Bridge is designed to accommodate not only vehicular traffic but also pedestrians and cyclists. Its innovative architecture and engineering are set to reduce travel time, improve safety, and provide a reliable link between these two major Danish islands.

Dextra, with its expertise in engineering construction solutions, has supplied 120,000 Rolltec couplers and headed bars for connecting pile reinforcement cages. These components are essential for the construction of the bridge’s foundation, ensuring that the piles are securely interconnected to support the immense weight and forces the bridge will experience during its lifetime.

In addition to our contribution to the bridge’s foundation, we have also supplied Unitec couplers for repair applications, connecting installed rebars with no threads. With Dextra’s contributions, this bridge will serve as a lifeline between Zealand and Falster for generations to come, connecting people, communities, and opportunities.

Nanay Bridge

Nanay Bridge

The Nanay Bridge is a 2.2km bridge crossing the Nanay River, north of the city of Iquitos, Peru.

The bridge will connect the district of Bellavista on the right bank of the Nanay River with the district of Santo Tomas on the left bank.

With a population of almost half a million people, Iquitos is the largest city in the world that cannot be reached by road – tucked in the Peruvian Amazonia jungle, it is currently accessible only by river and air.

Thanks to this project, the city will finally be connected with the rest of the Loreto Region.

The main structure is a cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 242m and total length of 424m. The approach structures are 1.2km long on the right bank of the river, and 320m long on the left bank of the river.

The bridge carries two lanes of traffic and two pedestrian walkways. The roadway has a total width of 12m, and each pedestrian walkway is 1.2m wide.

It uses light-weight composite steel concrete to minimize the use of concrete and to reduce loads transferred to the foundations.

For this project Dextra has supplied 100,000 Bartec couplers for rebar connection and 30,000 headed bars for shear reinforcement of the anchors.

Once completed, it will be the longest bridge in the Country.

Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport – Phase 2

Suvarnabhumi Bangkok International Airport – Phase 2

Suvarnabhumi Airport is the main international airport of Thailand, operating both domestic and international flights and acting one of the main gateway to South East Asia for travelers in the region. The airport is located at the East of Bangkok, less than 15mn from Dextra main manufacturing facility.

Dextra has involved in the construction of the airport since the beginning in 2001, and has still contributed to the airport’s latest expansion projects.

Suvarnabhumi Airport’s second phase expansion is intended to increase the airport’s annual passenger handling capacity to 60 million passengers and provide an additional 28 gate assignments for international flights, bringing the service up to international standards and improving the convenience of passengers and airlines in a total area of 960,000 square meters.

More than 600,000 Bartec rebar couplers have been used extensively in all parts of the airports, including beams, columns, diaphragm walls and pile cages. This popular rebar splicing solution allow for a safe and reliable connection of rebars, for both vertical or horizontal applications.

The solutions were deliverd with rebar preparation equipment, along with our trained experts, to ensure that production requirements were met in a timely manner.

Moreover, RepairGrip and Unitec couplers were also used for the connection of 2 rebars with no thread or rebars that have splicing issue.

Doha Metro Msheireb Station

Doha Metro Msheireb Station

Msheireb Station is the major interchange station of the Doha Metro. Located in Downtown Doha, it connects all of three lines (Red, Green and Gold) and will provide a gateway 2022 FIFA World Cup 2022 stadiums

The Msheireb Station will become one of the largest subway stations in the world by size.

Soft-Eyes for TBMs

For this major project, Dextra engineered and supplied between 2013 and 2015 8 large ASTEC GFRP Soft-Eyes, of a diameter of 8 meters each. Soft Eyes are cages of GFRP rebar, positioned into the D-Walls in-between steel segments. GFRP Soft-Eyes allow Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) to go through in a minimum time as the bars can be easily crushed by the tunnel machine.

Tie-Back anchors

To anchor the massive d-walls and prevent any soil displacement during excavation works, Dextra also supplied its ASTEC Active Anchors (AAA). Those innovative post-tensioned GFRP-based anchors, have the benefits of being cut by the Tunnel Boring Machines or standard excavation equipment. Because it can be easily cut, it doesn’t need to be removed from the ground, even when used for temporary applications.

In the case of the Msheireb stations, multi-tendons anchors (10 per anchor on this project) have even been installed in the center of Soft-Eye to anchor the D-Wall. Those anchors were also cut during the tunneling break-through (visible in the video below). In total 150 anchors were installed in the station.

Heathrow Airport Terminal 5

Heathrow Airport Terminal 5

Heathrow Airport is the busiest international airport in the United Kingdom, located around 25km west of central London.

Dextra has been involved in the construction of Terminal 5 and associated structures.

For Heathrow Airport, Dextra delivered its most advanced rebar splicing solution: Griptec, which is distributed in the United Kingdom by local expert fabricators.

As a result of its high performance, inherent reliability, systematic proof loading of every connection in factory conditions and comprehensive certification, Griptec is specified by major consultants globally. In the United Kingdom Griptec holds all three of the CARES splicing product certificates. That is TA1-A, TA1-B and TA1-C.

For our distributors, servicing the rebar preparation, the Griptec solution is convenient and productive. It is supported by a smart machine, manned by a single operator, offers highly productive cycle times (around 45 sec per rebar prepared) and includes of a test that systematically proof loads each and every bar / sleeve connection.

On the contractor side, Griptec offered a simple, effective and reliable way to connect rebar in columns, diaphragm wall and slabs. One application at Heathrow was for the roof of the new underground station. Griptec connections were also used to provide temporary openings that allowed men and equipment to freely move through the rebar structure and be easily ‘closed’ using single lengths of rebar with Griptec connections to both ends.

Thanks to its parallel-thread technology, Griptec does not require any torque wrenching at a specific value and can be verified by simple visual inspection, a significant advantage to simplify the project schedule and keep operations as productive as possible.

Dubai Airport

Dubai Airport

Dubai Airport is the main airport in the United Arab Emirates. The famous airport, located a few kilometer north of Dubai city, is home of the famous Emirates airline. Dubai International Airport is the #1 airport in the world in term of international passengers traffic.

Dextra Middle-East, also located in Dubai, has been involved on numerous packages of Dubai Airport construction, especially around the years 2003 to 2005, for the construction of Terminal 3 and associated concourses.

For Dubai Internal Project, Dextra has supplied its popular
Bartec coupler solution, #1 rebar coupler solution in the UAE. 1.5 million couplers have been used on Dubai International Airport.

Superstructure

Bartec couplers provided a technical solution to allow the reconnection of second phase reinforcement between columns and beams, and between walls and beams.

Rebar couplers were also used to create temporary openings in the reinforcement, allowing passage of man and equipment.

Foundations

Bartec couplers were used for the foundation piles. For that application, the couplers became part of a very integrated and automated cage manufacturing process, allowing to connect together large diameter rebar in a minimum time and maximizing cage production output.

As a complement to the Bartec rebar coupler solution, Dextra Sonitec tubes were used to ensure swift installation and reconnection of the sonic tubes all along the cages length. Sonitec tubes are especially easy to install, thanks to their Push-Fit rubber mouth, and easy to set up in the cage thanks to their welded heads. More than 1,800,000 meters of Sonitec tubes have been installed on Dubai International Airport over the years!

Bangkok BTS

Bangkok BTS

The Bangkok mass Transit System (BTS) is a large urban skytrain system located across Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand. The system was inaugurated in 1999.

As of 2017, the system consists of 24 elevated stations and 37 km of elevated rail organized in two main lines crossing each other in Siam central station.

The BTS system is undergoing an extension of its two main lines with line segments and stations expected to enter in operations in 2019 and 2020.

Foundations

For various packages over the years, Dextra has supplied Sonitec tubes, which are used to test the concrete pile foundations below stations and rail.

In total, Dextra supplied approximately 40,000 linear meters of Sonitec tubes, a distance actually equivalent ot the BTS system length itself.

Pylons

For pylon vertical bar connections, Dextra offered its
Bartec connection.
Bartec allows to conveniently splice prefabricated rebar cages by the use of a simple rebar coupler, allowing savings in steel compared to overlap and accelerating site operations.

In Thailand the threading operation is supported from Dextra’s factory, conveniently located in the North East of Bankgok. Contractors receive the rebar already prepared and mounted with their rebar coupler.

Mumbai ChhatrapatiShivaji Airport

Mumbai ChhatrapatiShivaji Airport

Mumbai ChhatrapatiShivaji International Airport is the primary airport serving international airports to Mumbai. It is the second airport in India in term of passenger traffic.

Dextra has been involved in the construction of Terminal 2 and associated structures, which took place between 2009 and 2013.

For Mumbai Airport, Dextradelivered its popular
Bartec rebar coupler solution, which is the main rebar coupler solution used on large projects in India.

Dextra operates in Mumbai its own threading yard and took in charge therebar preparation for this project.

On the construction site,
Bartec was used extensively for vertical connections (bar-to-bar vertical column connections), as well as horizontal applications (column-to-beam), typically on reinforcement ⌀32mm. Bartec offers a very high level of performance, guaranteeing “bar break” performance on the rebar used on Mumbai Airport.

For the contractor(Larsten& Toubro on this project),
Bartec offers a simple and cost effective way of connecting rebar.

Thanks to its parallel thread technology and rebar prepared with various thread length, it requires the very same coupler for standard applications (when one bar can be rotated inside coupler) and positional applications (when no bar can be rotated). A neat feature simplifying stock keeping and preventing product mismatch at site.
