Act One | Act Two Tower

Act One | Act Two Tower

Act One | Act Two Tower is a premium residential project in the Opera District of Downtown Dubai.

The project consists of two towers called Act One (52 stories) and Act Two (46 stories).

With their prime location, these residential towers offer views of the Dubai Fountain and the Burj Khalifa and they are few minutes away from Dubai Metro and from major attractions like the Dubai Mall and the Souk al Bahar.

For this exceptional residential project, Dextra was entrusted with the reinforcement of the buildings’ structures, including raft foundations, columns, slabs and construction joints.

150,000 Bartec rebar couplers along with rebar preparation machines were delivered to the construction site.

Bartec rebar couplers help speed up the construction with a faster and more convenient way of connecting rebars than the traditional rebar lapping method.

The thread on the rebar can be extended from a half-coupler to a full coupler length, allowing to perform the connection without any bar rotation.

The project is scheduled to be completed in November 2020.

Trinity Tower La Défense

Trinity Tower La Défense

The Trinity Tower in the business district of La Défense, West of Paris, is a new 33-floor and 140-meter-high office tower which will feature over 52,000 square meters of office space.

The project aims to achieve both social and environmental local impact by adding large outdoor public spaces reconnecting areas previously disconnected by the road. It will also feature green spaces, a rooftop space, openned facades and will achieve a LEEDS certification.

For this project, Dextra supplied through its French distributor SNAAM Vernon over 18,000 FORTEC® rebar connections.

Jeddah Tower

Jeddah Tower

Jeddah Tower (previously known as Kingdom Tower) is a landmark skyscraper located along the Red Sea in the North of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The commercial building is designed to pass for the first time the 1-km mark with a total expected height of 1,008 meters, making it the tallest building in the world.

Jeddah Tower will ultimately host a 200-room Four Seasons hotel, serviced apartments, several floors of offices and an observatory. A total of 59 elevators will allow visitors to move between floors.

The tower structure has been engineered by consulting firm Thornton Tomasetti and is built by contractor Saudi Bin Laden, to which Dextra is delivering through the support of its local partner Bahra Steel.

Dextra is proud to deliver 100% of the rebar couplers on the structure, both in the foundations and the superstructure.

Two main types of rebar couplers are used on the structure:

  • For all foundation, columns and vertical connection, standard Bartec couplers are used. These allow fast connection of prefabricated cages.
  • For slab connections, special bridging couplers are also used in order to connect each leg of the U-shape rebar to a column.

The tower is still under construction, with expected completion around 2019.

The tallest precast tower in India

The tallest precast tower in India

Galaxy Towers, developed by Aurobindo, is a project to construct 24-storey precast office building in Hyderabad, India.

It will be the tallest office tower in India built with precast technology.

The building comprises of 4 basement floors and 24 upper stories with 1.9 million sq. ft. leasable area, which will include health clubs, food courts, cafés, a business center, ample car parking and a waiting lounge.

The project is expected to be built in half the time of a comparable conventional cast-in-situ construction, illustrating how the precast technology has gained ground thanks to its efficiency.

For this special project, Dextra supplied a critical part of the precast structure: Groutec coupler, a half-grouted sleeve designed for the connection of precast elements and manufactured in compliance with Eurocode 2, BS 8110, ACI 318, IBC, AASHTO & IS 16172.

By installing Groutec couplers into the precast columns and walls at the precast factory, the fast and safe connection of walls or columns is achieved by injecting cementitious non-shrink grout through the inlet into the sleeves at site. 102,000 Groutec couplers have been delivered for this project.

The Galaxy Towers is anticipated to be completed in 2020.

The Key Rama 3

The Key Rama 3

The Key Rama 3 is a 484-unit high-rise condominium by Land & Houses with sizes ranging from 29 to 61 square meters. The project is located near the Chaopraya river on Rama 3 road, approximately 12 km. from Charoen Krung intersection to Na Ranong junction at Klongtoey in Bangkok, Thailand.

The condominium is a fully precast concrete building with no cast-in-place concrete on its main structural elements.

This type of construction required less workers, materials like rebars, and concrete on the site, which resulted in a shorter construction period and fewer complaints from the neighboring community regarding noise and waste.

Grouted mechanical sleeves were used to join the precast elements, and Dextra Groutec couplers, installed inside shear wall and bearing wall, were an important part of the process.

“The half-grouted mechanism of Groutec L and S sleeves, which have a threaded end on one side, ensured accuracy and reduced mistakes during the grouting process” said Mr. Janeboon Leepipatnavit, Project Director of Taveeporn Technology Co., Ltd., the contractor of this project.

Mr. Janeboon further stated that Dextra was a reliable company with its own facilities in Thailand that could provide immediate support if required.

Zakhr City

Zakhr City

Zakhr City is one of the largest real estate projects in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. This mixed-development project consists of three to four-star hotels, residential towers as well as markets, health centers, police and fire stations. It is designed to accommodate more than 200,000 people.

Since the construction site is located in a mountainous area, a bolting system was fundamental in order to secure the loose rock mass created after excavation. Dextra delivered almost 3,000 steel fully threaded Rock Bolts to stabilize the site.

The rock bolts work by knitting the unstable rock strata together before they can move enough to cause failure. Dextra offers steel and cuttable FRP rock bolts for face bolting or any other tunneling/mining application.

Dextra has been involved from the earliest stages of this project, to provide high quality products and professional support on the construction site.
