Mumbai Nathani Heights

Mumbai Nathani Heights

Nathani Heights is a 72-storeys skycrapper in Mumbai. With a total height of 262 meters it is among the 30 tallest building in the city. The construction of the building started in 2012 and will be completed in 2018.

For this project, Dextra supplied its famous Bartec rebar coupler solution. Bartec is the main rebar coupler solutions in India, satisfying all technical requirements even in seismic areas.

As in other highrise building, rebar couplers have been used for large diameter rebar connection in vertical applications such as columns and corewalls (bar to bar vertical connection).

Rebar couplers were also used for slab connections. In that case, the coupler is pre-positionner flush with formwork (allowing climbing formwork to go up). After casting, a threaded rebar is simply screwed inside the coupler to create the starter bar.

New Algiers Grande Mosque

New Algiers Grande Mosque

The new Djamaa El Djazair Mosque of Algiers is a huge construction project located in the eastern part of the capital city of Algeria. It will feature the world’s tallest minaret with a height of 265m. Further to this, the large complex will be able to accommodate as many as 120,000 worshippers.

For the main mosque’s building, Dextra supplied its Tension Bar Systems to China State Construction Engineering Corporation, the main contractor on this project. In total, those are more than 800 structural tension bar assemblies with diameters ranging from M16 to M56 which are being used for the cross-bracing of the roofing structure in the domed prayer room.

Each tension rod is painted in white to match the interior design of the mosque. Bracing discs (top left picture) add to the special architectonic finish of the structure.

For the building and minaret construction, Dextra also supplied its popular Bartec coupler solution, also available in Algeria through our network of distributors. consult our Paris office for more information.

Maryah Plaza

Maryah Plaza

Maryah Plaza is a commercial mixed-used development located on Al Maryah Island, designated to become the Emirates’ new business and lifestyle destination. The four water-adjacent towers are comprised of residential apartments, a 5-star hotel, and retail outlets. The project aims to create an open public space where users can walk freely across the development.

Dextra Compression Struts are used in the one of the four towers of Maryah Plaza. The four sets of Compression Struts delivered by Dextra elegantly fit into the tower’s lobby floors opening it up for waterfront views. Compression Struts are used to support heavy structures, in this project it is used as a cross-bracing element, increasing the tower’s ability to withstand seismic loads.

Four sets of 60-cm-diameter Compression Struts were used in the project. They are the largest diameter and highest performing sets Compression Struts Dextra ever built. Thanks to a streamline design and its convenient pin & fork locking feature, the sets were assembled on site in a week.

The Compression Struts is a circular hollow section bar and is capped at the ends by threaded fork. This threaded fork design allows for ease of assembly, making it possible for workers to put the strut together onsite in a matter of minutes.

The name Business Garden stems from its integrated spacious green area, a garden connecting the buildings with designated recreation spaces. Generous lawn area, pedestrian pathways, and benches with free Wi-Fi are provided to invite the office goers to work or take a refreshing break outside. The complex is LEED Platinum pre-certified. To support the tenant’s everyday life needs of their employees, Business Garden Bucharest’s offices are designed to have efficient layout, built with high quality finishes and sustainable solutions that are in line with LEED Platinum green certifications.

For this project, Dextra was involved in the supply of its Fortec rebar coupler solution. The Fortec solution is made up of a standard rebar coupler that can be utilize as both standard and position splices connecting two rebar ends that have been previously enlarged and threaded. Fortec is especially suitable for seismic environment construction, which is the case of buildings in the Bucharest area.

Fortec couplers have been used to provide superstructure vertical connections. Fortec couplers are relatively compact and can help to reduce the congestion created from rebar lapping. Fortec couplers also provided temporary opening, allowing movement of the workers and equipment around the reinforcement. Before casting, the continuation bars are simply connecting to the couplers, filling the temporary opening gap.

Bucharest Orhideea Towers

Bucharest Orhideea Towers

Orhideea Towers is a double tower office building complex located in the Western part of Bucharest. The towers are respectively 85m (17 floors) and 64 meters tall (13 floors). The two towers are connected by the use of a sky bridge.

For this project, Dextra was involved in the supply of its Fortec rebar coupler solution. The Fortec solution is composed of a standard rebar coupler, used for both standard and positional applications, connected to two rebar end which have previously been enlarged and threaded.Fortec is especially suitable for seismic environment construction, which is the case of buildings in the Bucharest area.

Fortec couplers have been used to provide all reinforcement connections in the heavily reinforced foundation mat (1.5meters thick). Fortec couplers are relatively compact and avoid the tedious task of overlapping rebar in congested environment.

Fortec couplers also provided temporary opening, allowing movement of men and equipment around the reinforcement. Before casting, the continuation bars are simply connecting to the couplers, filling the temporary opening gap.

London Wall Place

London Wall Place

London Wall Place is large a double tower office development in London built close to the Roman City Wall historical monument.

For this project, Dextra offered contractor Byrne Bros and main consultant WSP a technical solution for the fast installation of precast wall panels.

The concept was to install Groutec couplers in each panel reinforcement, at the bottom of the vertical bars previously prepared with Rolltec thread system, available in the UK through our distributor network.

After bracing the precast panel in its final position, non-shrink grout is injected into the cavity of the coupler, in order to create the rebar connection. Groutec is not reliant on a specific type of grout. Rather, several different brands of grout can be used, facilitating local scouring and helping to keep costs low. The bracing around the panel is then removed after the grout has achieve a prescribed strength.

After straightening and bracing of the precast panel, non-shrink grout is inserted into the cavity by injection. Dextra does not supply grout as Groutec is by design compatible with several brands that can be sourced locally, generating savings and easing project management. After injection, the bracing around the precast panel may then be removed after only 3 days.

The use of Groutec for precast panel is a time-saving and economical way to quickly take advantage of the precast technology. For similar application video, please check The Plum Central Station project page.

Icon Siam complex | ไอคอนสยาม

Icon Siam complex | ไอคอนสยาม

Icon Siam complex, located on the right bank of the Chao Phraya river in the West of Bangkok, is a new multipurpose commercial/residential complex consisting of two highrise buildings and a shopping mall. This new massive project aims to give back its glamour to the banks of the Chao Praya river.

The two towers are expected to reach 280m (SuperLux Tower) and 315m (Magnolia Tower) respectively. The Magnolia Tower will thus be slightly taller than the MahaNakhon Tower, Bangkok’s tallest building since 2015.

Dextra is supplying Thai-Obayashi (contractor of the shopping mall structure) and Italian-Thai (contractor of both towers) with its Bartec rebar splicing solution.

Dextra engineers performed operator trainings and do preventive maintenance directly on site to guarantee maximum output in thread production.

In total, more than 800,000 Bartec rebar couplers and 20,000 Bartec Headed Bars are being used in foundations and superstructure in the following applications:

L-shaped dowel bars (wall-slab connections)

This is a typical application used in foundation D-Walls to avoid protruding rebar. it is also used in the superstructure to allow the sliding formwork to climb up without any disturbance

Substitution of hooked bars with end anchors

When the wall reinforcement is especially congested, the use of Headed Bars (also called end anchors) allows to anchor the reinforcement in the wall without the need to produce hooks.

Double-ended connection in shear-walls

This solution allows to create a continuity inside the column or wall by bridging two horizontal slabs or beams.

Welded couplers for composite structures

Sometimes it is necessary to start reinforcement from the steel structure. In that case, weldable couplers are the ideal solution: Made of a low-carbon steel, they can be welded easily and allow connection to a threaded rebar.
