Montenegro viaducts built in seismic environment
The Bar-Boljare Highway is a key infrastructure project in Montenegro led by the Ministry of Transportation and Maritime Affairs and built by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC). The 2×2 lanes highway spans over 40km, in seismic environment.
iNGEROP, the consulting firm on the project, required the rebar couplers to comply with ISO 15835 requirements (cyclic requirements as per class S2). For that reason, CRBC chose Dextra Bartec® solution for reinforcement connection.
New design tool for Marine Tie Rods!
Marine Tie Rod solutions can seem at start overwhelming at first as there are many many types of quay walls, anchorage types and ways to connect them with tie rods.
To guide designers through the creation of the perfect quay structure, Dextra has developped a comprehensive step-by-step palette of AutoCAD tool to be used in complement of our Marine Tie Rods Technical Guide. This new tool features our complete range of diameters, grades and accessories.
We hope that this new AutoCAD tool will speed up both understanding of our systems and the design of your structure. For all questions, Dextra Bar Systems dedicated engineering team remains available to support you in the system selection and drawing.

How to get started ?
1. Download and install AutoCAD palette .zip >> Download (registration required)
2. Download and open Dextra Marine Tie Rods Technical Guide >> Download (registration required)
3. Gather your project loads and identify the M-size and Grade required for your project in our Technical Guide.
4. In AutoCAD, follow the step-by-step approach detailed in the application documentation. The application will help you select the right accessories based on the type of walls on your project. Draw a full system in now time.
5. Generate and add specification notes directly in AutoCAD by simply selecting the block (bar, thread, accessory) you want to specify.
Soft-Eyes installed at Singapore Marine Terrace Station
Four large diameter soft eyes have been installed in the diaphragm wall cages of the new Singapore MRT Marine Terrace Station during August 2017.
Soft-Eyes are made of GFRP rebar, which is used to substitute the steel reinforcement in the D-Walls of construction shafts. When the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) breaks through the D-Walls, it easily cuts the GFRP bars, saving time on project schedule and money on equipment usage.
Dextra has been the pioneer of this application since its first use in the Bangkok metro project in 1998 and has extensive experience for in-house design and manufacturing of Soft-Eyes.
The D-Walls installed on Terrace Station also feature Bartec® rebar couplers, a common application which allows for the horizontal re-connection of the station slabs.

New Groutec “S” range fits even thin precast elements
Dextra has expanded the range of Groutec, its rebar splice designed for the quick and easy connection of precast elements.
The new Groutec S (“Slim”) features a narrower body that makes it apt for use even in very thin precast panels, walls or columns. Thanks to its compact design, Groutec S also allows extra savings on grouting mortar, making its use even more economical.
For contractors that need to work with larger tolerances, the Groutec standard range, rebranded as Groutec L, remains available.
For more information about Groutec and access to Tekla, Revit and AutoCAD models, please refer to the dedicated product page

Reinforcing highway girders with post tensioning bar systems
Post Tensioning Bar systems are highly customizable and versatile solutions allowing for multiple applications in bridge/viaduct construction.
Dextra has recently supplied customized PT bar systems for the reinforcement of precast girder segments used on the Bang Pa In – Saraburi – Nakhon Ratchasima highway in the North-East of Bangkok.
The Post Tensioning Bar Systems, made of hot rolled deformed high-tensile bars (FT bars) Ø36mm, allow for the vertical reinforcement of the precast segments, with up to 14 sets per girder element.
Each bar will be jacked and put under the required tension from the top of each element while on the ground. After that the girder is lifted and installed in its final position.
Permanent corrosion protection will be achieved by filling a galvanized duct around the bar with grout.
