National Bank of Kuwait – New Headquarter, Kuwait
The new headquarters building of the National Bank of Kuwait is a 300m-tall tower with a total floor area of 127,000m². Its design, inspired by pearl shells, is located in the heart of Kuwait City’s financial district.
The main structure consists of composite concrete and steel, while the cladding on the fins and façades is predominantly glass-reinforced concrete.
Dextra contributed to reinforcing the building’s concrete structure by providing the following solutions:
- 100,000 Bartec couplers were installed for column reinforcement, construction joints in the raft, and slab/beam-to-core wall connections.
- 35,000 headed bars acted as shear studs in the raft.
- 1,500 Unitec bolted couplers were used to extend existing reinforcing bars that were either unthreaded or too short for lapping. This convenient solution allows for rebar connections using a simple pneumatic wrench on-site, eliminating the need for rebar preparation.
