The Nhat Tan Bridge is an impressive cable-stayed bridge spanning the Red River, located north of Hanoi. The total length of the project is 8.9 km, including the 3.75 km main bridge.

The bridge serves as a new gateway to Hanoi, significantly reducing travel time to Noi Bai International Airport, the second busiest airport in Vietnam by passenger volume.

The bridge was inaugurated by the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam and opened to the public on January 4, 2015. It has since been renamed the “Vietnam – Japan Friendship Bridge.”

Dextra has been involved in the Nhat Tan Bridge since the early stages of the project, supplying the widely used बार्टेक® rebar couplers, the leading rebar splicing solution in Vietnam. Bartec® connections were used in various parts of the project, including approaches, foundation piles, pile caps, and bridge segments.

Bartec® couplers offer a versatile rebar splicing solution, as the same standard coupler can be used for both standard connections (where the rebar rotates into the coupler) and position connections (where only the coupler rotates, useful when rebar rotation is not possible). Dextra supplied more than 130,000 connections in total for this project, enabling the lifting of heavy elements.

For the temporary operations of lifting and securing the precast girder segments, Dextra also supplied 36 tons of high-tensile PT bars.
