Happy International Women’s Day from Dextra Group

Happy Women’s Day to all the women! This International Women’s Day, we want to recognize the strong women who have been breaking barriers and creating new avenues in their respective fields.

Meet Kavya K., Manager – Credit Control & Treasury at Dextra India who will share her amazing perspective on women’s power with us.

1. Could you please tell us a bit about your role at Dextra India?

Hello friends, I am Kavya K. from Dextra India. I have been working as Manager of Credit Control and Treasury for 3 years and 7 months, and have a total work experience of over 14 years in trade finance, treasury, and banking. Working with the Dextra has been a great journey overall. I am always looking for new challenges and opportunities to enhance my skills, and Dextra India offered an exciting role where I gained valuable learning experiences and had the chance to implement my expertise to bring new avenues to the role. The management team has always been receptive to my ideas and helped me to implement fresh strategies. I look forward to taking on more challenging tasks and accomplishing them with zeal.

2. In your opinion, what are some of the biggest challenges facing women today?

As we move towards the 21st century, women’s empowerment has been the most discussed topic. But unfortunately, challenges persist, such as gender bias, security, and mental and physical harassment, which continue to create tough times for women all around the world.

Instead of merely discussing these challenges, it is necessary to work towards eradicating them, which is a big challenge altogether. Governments and laws have been taking necessary steps, but eradicating the issue from its root is necessary. Education is the key; it enlightens. Educating children, both girls and boys, to maintain dignity, respect, and humanism is crucial. These challenges cannot be eradicated in a day; it will require lots of perseverance to develop a mindset that believes in gender equality, respect for individual ideas, and aspirations. Imbibing good values is the most challenging task, which surely comes with good quality education.

3. What progress do you think has been made in terms of gender equality, and what challenges still exist?

There has been a substantial rise in the level of gender equality as I look back 20-25 years. Women were denied fundamental rights, but as the light of education seeps in, we can see progress. Today, women are seen in every walk of life, and it feels great to witness their success, providing a boost to every aspiring person. Women now need to stand tough against all odds to reach great heights, knowing their inner strength.

4. What advice would you give to young women just starting their careers?

For freshers, it can be a tough time sometimes, as you are energetic and have an urge to learn that can keep you pushing. Here at Dextra, you just need to set your limits and work accordingly. Connect with other women and peer groups; this will help you understand the culture and work in sync. Keep learning to boost your career path, and lastly, believe in yourself, as “impossible” itself says “I’m possible.

Lastly, I would like to wish a happy Women’s Day again to all. Every day is Women’s Day, as women bring strength, power, life, and peace. Kudos to womanhood.
