Rail Baltica Bridge Over Neris River, Lithuania

Rail Baltica Bridge over the Neris River, Lithuania

The construction of the Rail Baltica Bridge over the Neris River near Jonava marks a significant milestone in the region’s railway infrastructure. Stretching 1.5 kilometers, this bridge will not only be the longest in Lithuania but also the entire Baltic States. Designed with a variety of spans—including cast-in-place from traveler, cast-in-place supported on falsework, and span-by-span cantilever—the project showcases advanced engineering techniques and a commitment to environmental protection.

Dextra plays a vital role in ensuring the structural integrity of the bridge by supplying Sonitec crosshole sonic logging (CSL) testing tubes for the testing of piles. CSL testing is a crucial procedure that provides real-time insights into the quality and integrity of concrete in the piles, ensuring they meet stringent safety standards. This advanced technology enables engineers to detect anomalies and assess the quality of the concrete, ensuring the long-term durability of the bridge.

L'utilisation de Sonitec is particularly important given the bridge’s engineering complexity and the environmental considerations surrounding its construction. By integrating this technology, Dextra helps to uphold the highest standards of construction and environmental stewardship.

The Rail Baltica project represents the largest railway infrastructure development in the history of the Baltic States. Once completed, it will provide an electrified double-track European gauge railway line connecting major cities such as Warsaw, Kaunas, Riga, and Tallinn. This ambitious project will span a total of 870 kilometers, with 392 kilometers in Lithuania alone.

With the Rail Baltica Bridge over the Neris River, Dextra is proud to contribute to a landmark project that promises to enhance regional connectivity, promote sustainable transport solutions, and respect the delicate balance between development and environmental conservation. As construction progresses, the bridge will stand as a testament to innovative engineering and collaboration, paving the way for a brighter, more connected future in the Baltics.

The Cairo Monorail Bowstring Bridge project, a pivotal part of Egypt’s expanding urban infrastructure, has significantly benefited from the expertise and quality products supplied by Dextra. Known for their innovative engineering solutions, Dextra provided critical materials to support the construction of this state-of-the-art transportation link.

In particular, Dextra supplied tension rods in two distinct specifications for the project:

  1. M78/OD75 in Grade CS520 – A total of 60 sets were delivered.
  2. M83/OD80 in Grade CS520 – An additional 8 sets were provided.

These tension rods were specifically used as hangers for the bowstring bridge, ensuring a high level of strength and durability, which is crucial for the safety and longevity of the bridge, to maintain structural integrity and withstand the stresses of daily monorail operations.

Dextra’s tension rods, known for their high tensile strength and resistance to environmental factors while providing architectural pleasure, played a critical role in meeting these demands. This involvement underscores the importance of reliable and advanced engineering solutions in modern infrastructure projects, highlighting Dextra’s commitment to excellence and innovation in the field of civil engineering.

A66 Salzbachtal Bridge, Germany

The A66 Salzbachtal Bridge, located in Wiesbaden, Hesse, is a 304-meter-long, four-lane motorway bridge on the A66. Originally constructed in the mid-20th century, the bridge has been subject to wear and tear due to increasing traffic loads and aging infrastructure.

Foundation piles are fundamental to the stability and longevity of bridge structures. Ensuring their integrity is crucial to preventing potential structural failures. Création played a pivotal role by supplying approximately 10,000 linear meters of Sonitec CSL (Cross Sonic Logging) tubes.

Sonic tubes are essential components in the CSL testing method, which is widely regarded as one of the most reliable techniques for assessing deep foundation integrity. Sonitec, designed for easy installation within the reinforcement cage, facilitates accurate cross-hole sonic logging, allowing engineers to precisely detect and locate defects within the piles.
