Port de Fujaïrah

Fujairah Port: A Key Maritime Hub in the UAE

The Port of Fujairah, located in the emirate of Fujairah on the Gulf of Oman, is the only multi-purpose deep-sea port on the eastern seaboard of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Strategically positioned 130 km south of the Strait of Hormuz, it serves as a crucial gateway for international trade and energy exports.

Dextra was involved in the expansion of the port between 2007 and 2008.

Oil Terminal 2 (OT2)

For the new Oil Terminal 2 (OT2), Dextra engineered and supplied the Marine Tie Bar systems used for the anchoring of the Main Quay walls.
More than 1,400 tons of tie bars were provided for this large-scale project.

In 2008, Dextra also engineered and supplied Marine Tie Bar systems for the anchoring of the Tugs Jetty, Craft Docks, and Main Quay Wall. Short Barre de cravate marine assemblies were installed between King Pile Walls.
To facilitate transportation and installation, high-performance Grade 700 steel was selected, allowing for a higher level of performance with relatively smaller diameters.

Le barrage de Chaglla est un barrage hydroélectrique construit sur la rivière Huallaga, dans la région de Huánuco, au Pérou. 203 mètres de haut et a une capacité installée maximale de 456 MW.

Pour ce projet de barrage majeur, Dextra a fourni de manière cohérente sa solution de coupleur de barres d'armature Rolltec à l'entrepreneur brésilien Odebrecht de 2012 à 2015.

Rolltec est la barre d'armature la plus populaire épissage solution en Amérique latine, offrant une alternative compétitive aux épissures à recouvrement.

La préparation des barres d'armature est soutenue par un système unique machine légère, qui peut être utilisée par une seule personne. La machine Rolltec est relativement facile à transporter et facile à installer, même en endroits éloignés comme les chantiers de construction de barrages.

Petronas RAPIDE

Petronas RAPID: A Strategic Petrochemical Complex in Malaysia

Petronas RAPID (Refinery And Petrochemical Integrated Development) is a large-scale petrochemical complex located in the southernmost part of Johor, Malaysia, across the sea from Singapore.

Commissioned in 2016, the RAPID development aims to increase local production capacity by 300,000 barrels per day, making it a strategic asset for the Malaysian peninsula.

Pour ce projet, Dextra a fourni son Bartec system for the construction of precast pipe racks across the site. A total of 30,000 Bartec Têtes d'ancrage were used to create horizontal anchoring points for pipe rack beams.

To support the project, a Bartec machine was installed directly on-site and commissioned by the Dextra team, ensuring efficient bar preparation and seamless integration into the construction process.

Le Bahr El Baqar wastewater treatment plant is located in the northern governorate of Port Said and has a daily output capacity of 5.6 million cubic meters. It is a joint venture between the Arab Contractors Company et Orascom Construction.

The plant is the world’s largest of its kind, holding three Guinness World Records:

  • Le largest water treatment facility, processing 64.8 cubic meters per second
  • Le largest sludge treatment plant
  • Le largest single-operator ozone generating plant

Dextra is proud to contribute to this project by supplying Rolltec rebar couplers for the reinforcement of the plant’s concrete structures.

Rolltec is a CARES-approved, rolled parallel-threaded mechanical splicing system designed for connecting concrete reinforcing bars from Ø12 to 50 mm (ASTM #4 to #18). It offers fast and easy preparation and installation on-site.

Réservoirs Cylingas

Cylingas Reservoirs: Industrial Gas Storage in the UAE

The Cylingas gas tanks are part of the industrial complex of Cylingas, located in Al Quoz, United Arab Emirates.

For the installation of new gas tanks, Dextra supplied its tension rods systems, which were used for the cross-bracing of the tank footing structure. Carbon steel rods in Grade 355, with a diameter of 120 mm (thread M123), were selected for this application. The rods were delivered with forks, lock covers, and turnbuckles. A total of 48 sets were installed for this project.

The assemblies were fixed onto the pylons using gusset plates connected to the forks. Turnbuckles were installed in the lower part of the assembly to facilitate installation, allowing for length adjustment and stress control by bringing two bar segments closer together.

Le Barrage de Xayaburi is a hydroelectric dam located in northern Laos. Planned to begin operations in 2019/2020, it is the first of 11 dams planned in the lower Mekong region. The dam is expected to generate 1,285 MW of electrical capacity.

For this remote construction site, a Bartec rebar preparation equipment set was delivered in its container. A total of 120,000 rebar couplers were used on the project over a two-year period.

Extension de la raffinerie de Jamnagar : la plus grande raffinerie du monde en termes de capacité de production

Située dans le Gujarat, dans l'ouest de l'Inde, la raffinerie de Jamnagar est la plus grande raffinerie au monde en termes de capacité de production. Propriété de Reliance Industries, elle a été mise en service en 1998 et s'étend sur une vaste superficie de 50 km².

Pour la seule phase 3, plus de 305 000 tonnes d'acier Armatures ont été utilisés dans un projet de 36 mois, impliquant plus de 100 000 ingénieurs et ouvriers du bâtiment.
Dextra est impliqué à Jamnagar depuis les premières phases, en fournissant des barres d'armature solutions d'épissage pour les phases 1, 2 et 3 du projet.

  • Coupleurs Groutec
    Appliqué aux supports de tuyaux, qui ont été construits à partir de Préfabriqué éléments dans un dédié Préfabriqué usine au sein du projet.

    Utilisé dans les applications où la longueur des barres d'armature était trop courte pour permettre des connexions de chevauchement traditionnelles.

Canal d'atténuation des inondations de Jizan

Le Canal d'atténuation des inondations de Jizan is an ongoing infrastructure project in Jizan Economic City, Saudi Arabia.

Located along the coastline, the city is at risk of flooding due to frequent torrential rainfall. The flood channel plays a crucial role in protecting downstream areas from major flood damage.

As the channel will be exposed to seawater and environmental contaminants that can accelerate steel corrosion, Dextra ASTEC glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) rebar was chosen as the ideal solution for the project. Nearly 2 million meters of GFRP rebar were supplied.

ASTEC GFRP rebar est un corrosion-free, non-metallic reinforcing bar that offers higher tensile strength than steel while being significantly lighter in weight.

Upon completion, this project will be the world’s largest construction using GFRP rebars as concrete reinforcement.

Jizan Refinery Terminal: A Major Oil Infrastructure for Saudi Aramco

The Jizan Refinery & Terminal is a large-scale oil megaproject built for Saudi Aramco in the Jizan Economic Area, located on the Red Sea, on the west coast of Saudi Arabia.

For this project, Dextra engineered and manufactured marine tie bars systems, which were used in the construction of the quays of the marine terminal.

In total, Dextra delivered 412 tie rod sets in size M98. The Grade 500 steel rods were connected to combi walls on both sides using Dextra-designed captive nut accessories, which were cast into the concrete piles. Captive Nuts allow a 5° angle of adjustment in all directions, ensuring flexibility during installation.

Each assembly, measuring up to 36 meters in length, was divided into three main segments and reconnected using couplers and hinge couplers for efficient transport and installation.

Centrale hydroélectrique de stockage par pompage de Hatta

The Hatta Pumped Storage Hydro Power Plant project is located near the community of Hatta in the Hajar Mountains, 140 km southeast of Dubai.

The plant will use water stored in an upper reservoir at the Hatta Dam, utilizing pumped storage technology with solar-powered pumps from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.

The project was awarded to a consortium that includes STRABAG Dubai LLC, STRABAG AG, Austria’s Andritz Hydro, and Ozkar, an Oman-based construction company. France’s EDF is acting as a consultant for the project.

It will comprise a turbine shaft with a diameter of approximately 36 meters and a depth of nearly 70 meters, designed to accommodate two turbines with a total expected power output of 250 MW. Additionally, a 1.2 km-long pressure tunnel and two road tunnels, approximately 470 meters and 440 meters in length, will be excavated.

Dextra a participé à l'excavation des tunnels hydroélectriques en fournissant des milliers de boulons en acier GEOTEC™, notamment Boulons d'ancrage autoforants, clous de terre, et combination bolts, ranging in diameter from 22 to 32 mm, for rock mass and slope stabilization.

Dextra’s GEOTEC™ steel bolt systems are available for various ground conditions in applications such as roadways, hydropower, underground oil and gas storage, subsea, and sewer tunnels.

Le projet devrait être mis en service début 2024.

It is part of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to provide 75% of Dubai’s total power generation from clean energy sources by 2050.
