The new International Airport for Mexico City is building on Dextra solutions

Mexico City’s new International Airport was designed by Sir Norman Foster and launched in 2014. It is located to the East of Mexico’s capital and aims to provide the city with a new state-of-the-art air transportation hub. The project consists of an X-shaped terminal with a targeted annual capacity of 68 million passengers, 3 runways, and the control tower.
For this the largest infrastructure project in Latin America, Dextra is supplying Coupleurs de barres d'armature Bartec. These are used in the foundations of the terminal building (contractor ICA), the transport building (contractor Sacyr) and the control tower (contractor Aldesa).
Bartec couplers, often preferred in seismic areas such as Mexico, substitute the overlap on all size ASTM #12 (equivalent 38 mm) rebar. On such large diameters, it is both faster and cheaper to connect bars with couplers rather than traditional overlap splicing.
Dextra is currently providing Mexico Airport with 10 sets of Bartec equipment (a total of 30 machines, with each set delivered in a container). This setup is being supported by our local after-sales team which is training the machine operators and maintaining the equipment to achieve maximum productivity.

Giant compression struts installed in Abu Dhabi
The 60cm-diameter elements are the largest in Dextra range.

Al Maryah Island is dubbed “the Manhattan of the Middle East”. Its location as well as its breathtaking architecture contain the essence of ultra-luxury living in Abu Dhabi and the Middle East. Maryah Plaza is the most recent mixed-use development project on the island. It consists of 4 towers, one of which is a 5-star hotel.
Dextra supplied made-to-order compression struts of 20mm thick steel to contractor Al Fara’a Steel Structures. They are used to support the structure on the podium level.
