Melbourne Metro project: a showcase of Dextra solutions
The Metro Tunnel is a major enhancement to Melbourne’s rail network, a multibillion-dollar project comprising the design and construction of twin nine-kilometer tunnels and five underground stations.
The stations are designed based on the architectural character of the local area.
Dextra has been selected as a one-stop solution supplier, thanks to its wide range of products.
The numbers are impressive:
- 400,000 Griptec rebar couplers
- 5,300 GFRP Combination Bolts
- 900 GFRP soil nails
- 16 ojos suaves
Dextra was able to support and share their expertise on GFRP at design stage and produce the GFRP solutions as per the owner expectation.

El Imperial College de Londres probó los acopladores Dextra Bartec/Fortec y Griptec a temperaturas elevadas para evaluar cómo se comportarían en caso de incendio.
Los aspectos más destacados de la prueba incluyen:
- Los hallazgos indican que las reglas codificadas actuales se pueden utilizar para evaluar las propiedades de resistencia y rigidez tanto de las barras de refuerzo no empalmadas como de las barras de refuerzo conectadas con acopladores Bartec/Fortec o Griptec.
- A temperaturas inferiores a 400°C, la resistencia máxima a la tracción y la rigidez de los empalmes Bartec/Fortec y Griptec, así como de las barras de refuerzo no empalmadas, no se ven significativamente afectadas.
- Cuando se realizaron pruebas de tracción a temperaturas inferiores a 500 °C, la falla generalmente aún se produjo en la barra de refuerzo fuera de la región del acoplador Bartec/Fortec o Griptec.
