Bangkok factory expansion

Building for the future

Dextra inaugurated a few weeks ago a new factory building in Bangkok, adjacent to its existing manufacturing facilities.
This new facility of 1,300 sqm of production and 335 sqm of offices houses Dextra research and development center, a certified testing laboratory as well as a machining and equipment assembly workshop. Thanks to this expansion, the manufacturing capacity for equipment parts, tools and accessories will be boosted four folds.

Dextra bars manufacturing yard has also expanded by 25% with more space allocated for the Tie Rods/Tension Bars and Waling Beams production.

The last step of the expansion plan will take place during the second half of 2014 and will lead to a larger area for the splice manufacturing to support Dextra business expansion.

Launch of Groutec, a new splice
dedicated to the pre-cast industry

Pre-cast splicing made easy

Dextra recently rolled out a new line of mechanical splices specialized in pre-cast industry, available in diameter 16mm to 40mm.

Groutec rebar couplers are engineered to be used with standard non-shrinking grouting mortar, filled by gravity or injection.

Dextra’s system ensures an easy and fast connection of precast segments, even with bars which are not perfectly aligned.

Groutec is a Type 2 coupler complying with IAPMO and ICC-ES AC133.

Dextra bridging South East Asia

Dextra is proud to be part of the mega project that will soon link Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macau. The 50 km long structure, which includes a main bridge of 29.6 km and a 6.9 km tunnel, is expected to be completed by 2016.

Dextra supplied the contractor Dragages-VSL-China Harbour JV with 96,000 Bartec couplers (Ø16-50) and 6,800 Rolltec stainless steel couplers (Ø20 and 25), used in the precast segments as well as the piles and pier columns.

First soft-eyes delivered in South America

Dextra GFRP soft-eyes used in Rio Metro Linea 4

Rio de Janeiro is creating a new line for its subway, getting its city infrastructures ready for two major upcoming sport events, the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Rio Olympics.

At the Antero de Quental Station, Dextra supported the design of diaphragm walls and delivered to the Linha 4 Sul Consortium, headed by Odebrecht Infrastructure Brazil, 4 soft-eyes of 12m diameter made of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP), as well as Rolltec couplers used in the Diaphragm Wall connections.

ASTEC soft-eye facilitates the penetration of Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) through diaphragm walls and secant piles thanks to the use of GFRP as an advantageous replacement for conventional steel rebars.

Dextra is a precursor in soft-eye technologies, having successfully delivered more than 400 soft-eyes worldwide since 1996. Other references in soft-eyes for subways include Dubai Metro, Dehli metro, Hong Kong MRT, Shanghai MRT, Portland MRT or London channel tunnel rail-link.
