CSR: Elderly Home Renovation in China’s Longjin Community

We’re thrilled to share that our dedicated team of 15 volunteers in China recently visited the Longjin Community in the Liwan District of Guangzhou City. Together, we renovated 2 homes and visited and cleaned 4 more, all to bring joy and comfort to our elderly neighbors living in hardship.

In collaboration with the Harmony Community Foundation, Dextra China has initiated the “Renovate Old Houses, Rebuild New Lives” CSR project to provide financial support to 2 elderly families with urgent home issues like water leaks and mold. The project aims to renovate or repair their living spaces and provide cleaning services for 4 additional families. The 6 families were identified by the Local Social Committee of the Liwan District, Guangzhou, as being in special hardship, including widows and orphans.

As a result, community leaders presented a plaque of appreciation to Dextra, while resident representatives presented thank you banners.

During a group sharing session, our volunteering members made several comments: “CSR is not limited to financial support for the disadvantaged; it also encompasses humanistic and spiritual care.” “Each helping hand not only helps others but also reaps growth and satisfaction for ourselves.” “The CSR experience made us appreciate our jobs even more.”

Our mission is to make a positive impact on our community, and we couldn’t be prouder of our team’s hard work and compassion. Thank you to everyone who supported us on this meaningful journey. Let’s continue to build a better, kinder world, one step at a time!

A66 Salzbachtal Bridge, Germany

A66 Salzbachtal Bridge, Germany

The A66 Salzbachtal Bridge, located in Wiesbaden, Hesse, is a 304-meter-long, four-lane motorway bridge on the A66. Originally constructed in the mid-20th century, the bridge has been subject to wear and tear due to increasing traffic loads and aging infrastructure.

Foundation piles are fundamental to the stability and longevity of bridge structures. Ensuring their integrity is crucial to preventing potential structural failures. Die Anfänge played a pivotal role by supplying approximately 10,000 linear meters of Sonitec CSL (Cross Sonic Logging) tubes.

Sonic tubes are essential components in the CSL testing method, which is widely regarded as one of the most reliable techniques for assessing deep foundation integrity. Sonitec, designed for easy installation within the reinforcement cage, facilitates accurate cross-hole sonic logging, allowing engineers to precisely detect and locate defects within the piles.

Cross Island Line (CRL) MRT, Singapore

Cross Island Line (CRL) MRT, Singapore

Die Anfänge has played a pivotal role in the construction of Singapore’s Cross Island Line (CRL) MRT project, supplying Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) soft-eyes, Bartec couplers and Kopfstäbe for several crucial packages. Die Anfänge continues to support the ongoing packages of this extensive project.

The CRL is set to become Singapore’s eighth MRT line and its longest fully underground line, stretching over 50 kilometers. The project is being executed in three phases, with the first phase anticipated to be operational by 2030.

To minimize the environmental impact on the forested areas of the nature reserve, engineering solutions were meticulously chosen to further mitigate environmental disruption. These solutions include digging deeper into the ground and employing a large diameter boring machine, capable of accommodating two train tracks within a single tunnel. This approach not only reduces the surface footprint but also enhances the efficiency of the tunneling process.

Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) are a staple in Singapore’s subterranean infrastructure projects, adept at operating under a variety of ground conditions. The use of GFRP soft-eyes supplied by Die Anfänge is integral to these operations. Soft-eyes are essential components in TBM tunneling, acting as temporary openings that allow the TBM to break through concrete walls without compromising structural integrity. The GFRP material is preferred for its high strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and ease of installation, ensuring safe and efficient tunneling operations.

Die Anfänge‘s expertise and reliable supply of GFRP soft-eyes, Bartec couplers and headed bars have significantly contributed to the progress of the CRL project, aligning with Singapore’s commitment to sustainable and innovative infrastructure development. As the CRL project advances, Die Anfänge remains a key partner, supporting the construction of this monumental MRT line that will eventually enhance the daily commute for millions of Singaporeans.

Dextra’s innovative FRP rebar, combined with Arkema’s Elium® resin, presented at JEC World 2024, encapsulates the essence of this partnership, highlighting Dextra’s leadership in GFRP innovation for the construction industry.

Overview of Arkema and Dextra Group’s Collaboration

In a groundbreaking collaboration, Arkema, a global leader in specialty chemicals, has joined forces with Dextra Group, a trailblazer in the construction industry. This partnership is set to revolutionize the construction sector with the introduction of innovative composite solutions. Below are the key aspects of this collaboration:

  • Arkema’s Contribution:
    • Leveraging its expertise in specialty materials, Arkema brings to the table its pioneering Elium® thermoplastic resin, known for its exceptional performance in enhancing the strength and durability of composites.
  • Dextra Group’s Role:
    • Operating in over 55 countries, Dextra Group’s expertise in engineered steel and fibre-reinforced polymer construction products sets a solid foundation for this collaboration. The focus on sustainability is evident through Dextra’s introduction of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for their products, showcasing a shared vision for a greener future.

This collaboration not only underscores the commitment of both organizations to pioneering sustainable, high-performance materials but also sets Dextra apart as a leader in GFRP innovation within the construction sector.

Arkema’s Elium Thermoplastic Resin and Dextra’s FRP Rebars

At the heart of the collaboration between Arkema and Dextra Group lies the integration of Arkema’s Elium® thermoplastic resin with Dextra’s innovative FRP rebars, setting a new standard in the construction industry for composite fiber solutions. This partnership leverages the unique properties of Elium® resin, including:

  • Hot Bending on Site: Elium® resin allows for the hot bending of FRP rebars directly on construction sites, offering unparalleled flexibility and cost-efficiency. This feature is a game-changer, simplifying logistics and enabling more complex architectural designs.
  • Sustainable and High Performance: This new generation of resin can be made with up to 92% recycled material. At the end of the products lifetime (120+ Years), it can be broken down to separate the resin and fiber elements. This allows the resin to be recycled and reused while the fiber can be upcycled to be used as reinforcement in asphalt and concrete.

Arkema’s collaboration with Dextra to develop bendable reinforcements using Elium® resin further underscores the innovative spirit of this partnership. This endeavor not only makes reinforcements more flexible but also enhances their resistance properties, longevity, and aesthetic appeal, mirroring natural stone.

Through this collaboration, Dextra Group is positioned as a leader in GFRP innovation, differentiating itself from other producers by harnessing the unique benefits of Arkema’s Elium® resin and its unique manufacturing process.
