King Salman Energy Park (SPARK), Saudi Arabia
King Salman Energy Park (SPARK) is a new industrial city currently under construction between Dammam and Al-Ahsa in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
The project aims to meet the country’s growing demand for energy-related products and services, including exploration, production, refining, petrochemicals, conventional power, water production and treatment, and drilling.
Upon completion of the first phase in 2021, SPARK will be divided into five main zones: an industrial zone, a dry port and logistics zone, a business district, training centers and residential compounds, and commercial areas.
Dextra supplied approximately 700,000 ASTEC GFRP (Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer) rebars, model GR45P, in both straight and bent shapes for buildings and sidewalks.
ASTEC GFRP GR45P rebar provides a modulus of elasticity of 45 GPa and tensile strength in accordance with ASTM 7205-06. It serves as a strengthening material for both new and existing structures.
Upon the anticipated completion of the third phase in 2035, SPARK will span 50 square kilometers and is expected to create 100,000 jobs.
