Our Solutions

Smooth Post Tensioning Bars

High-performance Post-Tensioning solution

Dextra’s Post Tensioning Bar Systems can be used for a variety of temporary and permanent construction applications. Typical permanent applications include the connection of girders and piers in segmental bridge construction. Temporary uses include heavy lifting, pre-loading, stitching, and anchoring of steel frame supports. Dextra PT range is divided into two major types of bars. This page focuses on the PT Bar systems using smooth high-performance carbon steel bars with threaded ends, which are prepared to length as per project requirements.

Fully Threaded Post Tensioning Bars

Hot rolled, fully threaded bars

Dextra’s Post Tensioning Bar Systems can be used for a variety of temporary and permanent construction applications. Typical permanent applications include the connection of girders and piers in segmental bridge construction. In the case of permanent applications, the systems are usually to be delivered with a full corrosion protection accessory system. Dextra FT Bar systems are also frequently used on construction sites for temporary applications such as heavy lifting and stitching of precast elements and anchoring of steel frame supports. Dextra PT range is divided into two major types of bars. This page focuses on the PT Bar systems using Fully Threaded Bar systems, which are usually cut to length as per project requirements, but may also be re-cut in shorter segments and re-used on the project site.

Cold Rolled 1080 Fully Threaded Bars

Based on cold-rolled threaded bars

High-tensile CR Bar 1080 is quenched and tempered to obtain their specified properties and provided with cold-rolled thread.
Specifically designed to facilitate mainly easier installation, continuous thread for possible connections at any point, and lesser lock-off loss.
Typically used for permanent or temporary application for the connection between steel and concrete elements or concrete to concrete elements or steel to steel elements. It has high impact resistance and high fatigue performance that allows cost-efficient size selection from OD 26.5mm to OD 75mm.

Holding Down Bar Systems

Restraint system for wind turbines

High Tensile Holding Down Bars is a special application for smooth Post Tensioning bar systems for the connection between steel and concrete elements or concrete to concrete elements.
Typical applications include the holding down bars for wind turbines, for the connection of steel pylons to concrete foundations, and the connection of precast concrete elements.
Each bar tendon is typically terminated via a nut-bearing onto steelwork or a steel plate. To eliminate bar stretch and hence movement under externally applied loads, the bar is usually tensioned using a hydraulic jack.

Shear Key Bar

Shear key and hold-down bars are a special application of post-tensioning smooth bar systems where a full assembly acts as a permanent seismic restrainer for the connection of elevated metro/roads precast segments.

  • High ductility, fatigue resistance, impact resistance.
  • Full traceability and individual bar labelling.
  • Ready-to-install conditions: delivered as pre assembled sets with factory-injected grease in HDPE duct.
  • Sea-worthy packing.
  • Project engineering support by Dextra dedicated Bar Systems Engineering team.
